Pacific Northwest boots are legendary around the world. Given the conditions that work boots face in such an environment, boots made by local companies naturally became extremely tough and durable. With boots having become more popular as casual footwear in the new millennium, some of these makers have started to take notice and begun offering more casual models in their line ups.
Nicks Handmade Boots began in 1964 in Spokane, Washington, with the purpose of building the best work boots possible, from the best leather and materials, and with the idea of earning customers for life. Today no company makes a better work boot than Nicks and we are proud that all of our products are still made in the USA with American materials.
It has been smoother for some than others. Viberg has transitioned so far that you would be forgiven if you forgot that they are even based in the Pacific Northwest. They began making more casual designs and offering leathers that were less adept at withstanding fire and more at home being stared at by weirdos who enjoy beautiful vegetable tanned leather… people like me. However, some of the other brands in the area were a little slow on the uptake. For a while, Wesco only made interesting boots for Japan until the Standard and Strange collaboration engineers started coming out. Whites took forever to adapt, but now they’ve gone all in, hiring an Instagram influencer to run their social media and making an Instagram page so stereotypically PNW hipster that it probably drives a Subaru. Some of the smaller brands such as Dayton and Franks seem to have just completely ignored this new boot market for better or worse.
Nicks Boots are noted for their toughness, distinct look, and what the company calls the “legendary arch,” four layers designed to simulate the foot’s natural form and provide longevity. If you’re lucky enough to be based in the Pacific Northwest, we’d even recommend you swing by the brand’s Spokane showroom to try out the fit process for yourself — the end result might just be some of the best boots you’ve ever worn.

The only difference between this boot and our legendary fireboot the Hotshot® is that it doesn’t include the burn resistant thread and outsole. The BuilderPro(TM) is the ultimate work boot if you are on your feet for 8-14 hours per day. Excellent for tradesmen, mechanics, warehouse workers, electricians, and anyone else needed comfort and durability!

4.Aldert Strider Black CXL
Boots that are in new condition can be returned for an exchange. Boots that have been worn outside, begun break-in, or deemed in “used” condition would qualify as non-returnable.
Because our hides come from living organisms and also undergo an extensive tanning and retanning processes, Nicks is limited in its ability to control variances in leather color, cleanliness (particularly lighter colored hides) and imperfections. “Streaking”, texturing, and isolated discoloration are not covered under our warranty policy.
Because Nicks purchases safety toe inserts from a third party supplier, Nicks cannot guarantee toe box comfort for steel, composite or fiberglass toed boots. “Toe rub” is not covered under our warranty policy.

10.Nicks Framer’s Tool Belt
Designed and handcrafted in house, the Nicks Framer’s Tool Belt is the perfect companion for any tradesman. Constructed with only the highest quality U.S. Tanned leathers. The belt is a heavy duty 12-14oz veg tanned leather to provide the ultimate support. The bags are 7-8oz full grain leather, same as our most durable of work boots.
11.Station Boot Zippers
Made with Military grade brass hardware, and thick 7 1/2-8 oz thick work leather these are some of the toughest zippers around. Best in our Station Boots, these zippers are the best solution for quick on-and-off for Nicks Boots. Please note, Zippers do not provide the same level of “snuggness” as a normal lacing pattern, allowing for slight heel-slip. For minimal heel-slip, and maximum comfort Nicks recommends completing any break-in prior to using zippers.
12.Nicks Work Gloves
Soft and lightweight American goat skin. Goat skin has a tight grain and it’s lanolin oils offer mild water repellency. Very good abrasion resistance and tolerates moisture well. A work and riding glove that will last a very long time. All leathers come from natural hides which may contain scarring, giving each pair its own character.
Measure around your palm… If you don’t have a soft tape measure.. use a string, mark it, lay it flat and measure it. This will give you your general size. If you like more or less room you could go up or down from there.
13.Leather Laces
Leather laces are great for break-in and a snug lacing, plus they won’t burn like nylon.
